Feb 12 - Dogs 4 Diabetics

Dogs4Diabetics (D4D) is internationally recognized as the innovator and leader in training and placing diabetic-alert dogs.   Established in 2004 as a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, D4D has trained over 100 dogs to alert on the life threatening hypoglycemia experienced by insulin dependent diabetics.

Susan Millhollon was hired as the Executive Director of Dogs4Diabetics (D4D) in 2011 to assist in guiding the organization as interest and demand expanded for diabetic medical alert dogs.   Prior to joining the organization, Susan was a long time health services executive, with a Masters Degree in Public Service and Community Development. Her business experience includes positions with Anthem Blue Cross and Magellan Health Group, and also with United Airlines, in Employee Assistance Programs. Her personal interest in diabetes has motivated her to be active in various diabetic causes, including the ADA and JDRF.

In November 2012, Susan graduated with her own D4D dog, Vera, who accompanies her when speaking about Dogs4Diabetics and the impact the dogs have in the lives of diabetics.
